Oh now, this was fun. Take a newly purchased fairly grey and slightly forlorn 5 bed house and make it a home. A really cool, understated family home. In 8 weeks.

So it was a lot, but it was also possible and not a tile was left unturned on this one. Literally.

It needed everything from a full furnish to a new bathroom (and ensuite), re-painted and re-carpeted throughout. Even the window handles were changed to black to match the new black sockets and switches. All of the radiators were ripped out and upgraded, even the kitchen floor came out (so that meant the kitchen had to too.....) to allow for underfloor heating and sparkly new flooring. White 'caravan style' (not an official term) sliding doors at the back of the house to the garden were removed and replaced with sleek anthracite metal framed doors.

Essentially everything in sight was replaced and upgraded. Colour, fixtures and finishes carefully selected to blend the spaces together and create an incredibly calm simple home. To me, every choice made was a key one, it really was all in the detail here.

It was major, but it was necessary. And in the end it was really quite lovely.
